Canary Seed, Stove Polish, Catheders and Absinthium

When I was out browsing antiques a few weeks ago, I stumbled upon this chest of drawers.

At one point, it belonged to a store.

A store that sold Absinthium.

And Catheders.

And Stove Polish.

You know, the usual.

Oh, and let’s not forget about little Polly! Canary seed was also available.

Absinthium is part of the Latin name for Wormwood (artermisia absinthium). It’s not a tree, it’s an herb that has psychoactive and hallucinogenic properties.

Why that is one drawer above Catheders is beyond me.

Sounds like my kind of store though!
