I prefer the soft covers myself, but there are times when I sure could use a hard surface to write on. I need to check that out! What I love about Moleskins is that they come in all sizes, colors, cover-types. Something for everyone. They aren't as fountain pen friendly as they "should" be, but I do love them. I use the "large" (5-1/4 x 8/14) hard cover for my journal.
